It was a perfect beginning to the year as promising start-ups and investors attended the East Meets West 2020 Welcome Showcase. Organized by Blue Startups, East Meets West is an annual conference for start-ups that breaks free from run-of-the-mill business conferences. Taking place in the paradise of Hawaii, it makes the affair more fun, with its programs that promote growth through interaction, engagement, and recreation. International guests and locals participated in this much-awaited conference where education and a vacation merged perfectly!
This year, at the Impact HUB Honolulu last January 29, about a hundred guests of startup companies from different accelerators (Blue Startups, Elemental Excelerator, Hatch, Mana Up, Hawaii Investment Ready, Purple Maia, Education Incubator, and XLR8HI) came together and shared ideas for their businesses in the spirit of innovation. It was also an opportunity to show the heart and everchanging landscape of Hawaii to the world.
To go with the atmosphere of innovation, CIH Events incorporated sustainability through free-flowing delicious appetizers served on specially sourced eco-friendly plates, bamboo cutlery, and biodegradable cups. This hearty—or should we say, Earth-y—way of eating was perfect for the customized and mostly vegetarian menu of Gluten-free Spaghetti with Meatless Marinara Sauce, Chicken Satay Skewers, and Hamakua Mushroom & shaved Parmesan Cheese Flat Bread, among others. These appetizers were set on lovely food stations that welcomed everyone to come back for another serving or two.
